As workplaces around the world move towards normalizing operations, many public employees find themselves part of a hybrid team - where on any given day some employees are working in the office and some are working remotely. Rotation schedules are being created and choices are being made about how to conduct business under a new model.

Leading hybrid teams presents a new way of operating and requires careful planning and new skills. To help ensure the success of hybrid teams, WCIA has developed a series of workshops to include:

The Fundamentals of Managing a Hybrid Workforce
Trainer: Connie Poulsen, President Owner, Managing & Consulting

  • This session covers the key components of success for hybrid leaders: Leadership Skills, Managing for Outcomes, and Building a Hybrid Culture
  • Participants will learn new skills necessary to lead hybrid teams such as how to manage for results and measuring outcomes. Additionally, students will discover how to rebuild the traditional work culture to facilitate¬† employee engagement, communications, and collaboration. This session addresses complex needs and provides a forum for discussion about best practices.

Legal Considerations for Employees Working Remotely
Trainer: Mike Bolasina, Regional Defense Attorney, Summit Law Group

  • This session will cover legal issues that arise when employees are working from home, either on a temporary or permanent basis.
  • Participants will acquire a comprehensive understanding surrounding wage and hour (e.g., overtime, breaks, travel pay), disability accommodations and leaves, recruitment, worker's compensation, monitoring, and labor management concerns.


  • Advance registration is required to participate
