This full-day program will provide an overview of the requirements necessary in performing procurement and public works contracting responsibilities. It will include statutory references and practical tips to meet these obligations. There will be first-hand advice on conditions and situations that impact prevailing wages and contractor law from Labor and Industries and insight from the Department of Revenue on related tax issues and their role in the public works process.
This training will provide resources for identifying your agency requirements in purchasing and contracting, as well as tips and information that will help your procedures remain compliant. You'll receive information on prevailing wage requirements and retainage release, plus a description of common pitfalls and how to avoid them. In addition, you'll get an understanding of tax issues and the role of the Department of Revenue.

Local government purchasing and contracting staff (new and seasoned), public works employees, finance personnel, managers, clerks, and administrative staff seeking to learn more about the procedures and practices required in making purchases and issuing or managing contracts.
